The theme of the exhibition sets out to view the part of Richie's work that he is most passionate about. Although most of the exhibits revolve around lettering, the main focus remains on the decorative and technical aspects of working with gold on glass. Many of the shown techniques are seldom used in real life signage, making them a rare sight in the streets, thus giving the exhibition an artistic edge. The discerning beholder will find a multitude of techniques combined in various ways, but one element is common to every glass in the exhibition – gold leaf.

Nearly all of the glass pieces shown are designed by Richie, with typographic inspirations from different eras. Those which aren't were designed by fellow sign painters and designers and made for fun, as workshop pieces or are pieces of signage returned by customers who cared to preserve the hand made signage.

Richard Chlaszczak is a glass gilder and a traditional sign painter. Following his move to Norway in 2011, he established his first business "Oslo Skiltmaler" a year later. After attending a glass gilding workshop with the master glass gilder David Smith in Torquay, England, in 2013, Richie's focus started quickly moving towards glass signs, while maintaining a steady development within traditional sign painting skills. Since then, Richie was fortunate to put the nearly forgotten methods to use in contemporary signage in Norway and has become a full time gilder and sign painter. 2019 gave birth to a new business named “Christiania Design AS”. The focus remains on traditional signage – however, more emphasis is put on type design with inspiration from traditional lettering styles from the past.
