Stuart Bailey Nettside

Stuart will talk through 20 years of operations in and around arts publishing, jump-started by the left-field design journal Dot Dot Dot, expanded via the free-ranging activities of Dexter Sinister, then channelled through the broadband Serving Library – where the journal continues to serve as an engine for other formats including an archive of objects and a pedagogical programme.

He studied Typography & Graphic Communication at Reading University, attended the experimental graduate school Werkplaats Typografie in Arnhem, and was awarded a Practice-based PhD in Fine Art, also from Reading University.

He is one-half of the artist duo Dexter Sinister along with David Reinfurt, and a quarter of archiving/publishing platform The Serving Library along with David, Francesca Bertolotti-Bailey and Vincenzo Latronico. He co-founded and -edited the left-field arts journal Dot Dot Dot in 2000, and continues to edit its immediate successor The Serving Library Annual – formerly Bulletins of The Serving Library – since 2011, the component parts of which are free to download from www.servinglibrary.org.

Stuart has variously taught art and design for extended periods at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, OTIS college in Los Angeles, and the University of Art & Design in Geneva.

This talk is free and open to all.
