For the first time ever on display, the exhibition “non-alphabets — typographic material” shows exquisite samples of typographic auxiliary from the 19th and early 20th century. In a seldomly encountered nonchalant manner, Johannes Lang & Ellmer Stefan reanimate a vast variety of decorative devices extracted from type specimen books of the aforementioned period.

Carefully curated, the showcased material ranges from purely geometric shapes to elaborate depictions of miscellaneous character. By embracing the combinable nature of typography and the embedded potentiality, a visual poetry is revealed that lies beyond semiotic categories and historic periods.

Fredag, 3. mars, kl. 18.00 blir det en levende framføring av Agnes Hvizdalek’s oppragsverk «NON A4» i utstillingen non-alphabets — typographic material på Grafill R21. Deretter fører Ellmer Stefan gjennom utstillingen og gir innsikt i konseptet, tanker og materialet som har blitt reanimert og samplet i samarbeid med Johannes Lang.
