European Design Awards celebrate every year outstanding work in the field of communication design. 39 different countries entered the 12th edition of the competition, from Iceland to Cyprus and from Portugal to Russia, creative agencies, design studios and freelancers submitted a great part of last year’s creative production under 42 categories, covering everything from branding and packaging to illustration and the digital applications.

A team of design critics, journalists from design trade magazines and academics, came together to what is known as the most qualified jury in the industry, to decide on the best of the best. The results of their judgement is to be announced on Saturday June the 2nd in Oslo at Skur 13

The ceremony host is multi award winning, stand up comedian, Alistair Williams, who has quickly made a name for himself with razor sharp content and high-watt charm. Smart, passionate, impressively quick witted and bursting with infectious confidence, this is stand up that grabs your attention and Alistair is quickly solidifying his place as one of British stand up’s most exciting rising stars.

The Festival Party continues at Skur 13, doors open after the Award show. Talented DJ Herkules will groove the mood, Filip Åbom from Othilia at the Grand Hotel will give you a tast of Hellstrøm Sommer Cocktail.

Skur 13 is an amazing Oslo harbour venue, decorated by Pushwagner. The hall is an indoor skate park with 1,500 square metres of rails, pipes and ramps, part of which is transformed to a festival venue this weekend in June. Remember to bring, not your skateboard, but your dancing shoes!

When Skur 13 closes at 00.30 we step out in the warm summer night. If the night is still young on your part, we can recommend Kullt. Kullt is situated close to Aker Brygge area and the historic Akershus Fortress. Their upstairs terrace has an excellent view over the Oslo Fjord and the vibrant City Hall Pier area. They are open until 03.00 on Saturdays.

You can buy tickets to one or both of the events this evening.
