Can Visual Designers, Architects and Urban Planners create value together? Urgent.Agency (DK/NO) and EUROPA (SE/UK) will share some of their experiences as creative agencies challenging the traditional disciplines.
The event is organised in partnership with DOGA (Design og Arkitektur Norge) and co-curated with Byggstudio. Both talks will be held in English.
Europa, Mia Frostner (SE/UK)
Europa is a graphic design company based in London and run by Mia Frostner and Robert Sollis, both graduates of the Royal College of Art.Europa has a particular interest in architecture, urbanism and the role that graphic design can play in a place’s identity. Europa look for moments when graphic design and architecture overlap, and create opportunities for their work to play a more supportive and less top down role in framing a place.
In this talk Mia will show selected work such as graphic identities, public art and signage in the built environment made in collaboration with architects, artists and local councils.
Urgent.Agency, Christian Pagh (DK/NO)
Urgent.Agency is a cross disciplinary design practice based in Copenhagen and Oslo. Their approach- Culture design, is based on their belief that sustainable solutions stem from a holistic understanding of how people act, interact and communicate.
Christian will share reflections on urban planning and placemaking in the light of Urgent.Agency’s culture design approach - focusing on the role of graphic design and design practice in city making. Christian is a specialist in the human and cultural aspects of design, architecture and urban planning. He has directed a range of projects within design, strategy and placemaking and has a passion for identity and community building.
