Immerse yourself and your artwork into the world of VR with Art Director Goro Fujita and Quill. This 2-day Quill Workshop will put your creativity in the driver's seat as you work directly with Goro in an intimate setting. The flexibility and ease of Quill will help you create VR animations in a whole new way. In this VR Workshop, Goro will cover UI basics, drawing, painting and animation techniques, finishing with a fully animated personal piece.

What is Quill:
Quill empowers artists of diverse backgrounds to contribute to 2D, 3D, and VR production pipelines without the requirement of learning a technically complex tool. Similar to traditional drawing and painting, Quill enables artists to create directly with their hands to a virtual space, respecting unique, artistic styles.

Who is Goro Fujita:
Born in Japan, raised in Germany, Goro Fujita is an art director, illustrator and visual development artist based in California. He started his career working as a freelance character animator and visual development artist for various companies in Germany. In 2008 he joined DreamWorks Animation as a visual development artist and worked on Merry Madagascar, Megamind, Madagascar 3, Penguins of Madagascar and Boss Baby. He left DreamWorks in 2015 and joined Oculus Story Studio in San Francisco where he art directed the Emmy Award winning VR experience “Henry”. Goro is also known for pioneering art in VR using tools like Quill and Medium. In 2017 he joined Facebook Social VR to continue the development on Quill and to introduce the world to Art in VR.

Details of the Workshop:
Date: March 2+3, 2019 (09.30 -16.30)
Place: Westerdals, Vulkan Campus
Price: kr 1100,- for Grafill members, kr 2000,- for non-members.
Equipment: computers are provided by Westerdals, but you have to bring your own Oculus Rifts Touch set. (Vive does not work with Quill)
Requirements: no previous VR or Quill knowledge is required to attend this class. But there will be some homework to do before attending.
Food: sandwich and snacks will be provided during the workshop. Please specify dietary restrictions.
